Kufstein Operetta Summer
Performances at the fortress
More than ten years ago, the Operetta Summer at Kufstein Fortress was brought to life. Since then, it has been a popular and successful element on the Tyrolean cultural calendar. In its 13th edition, the Kufstein Operetta Summer once again features the musical production "The Bat". First performed in 1874, Johann Strauss´ masterpiece is considered the pinnacle of the age of operettas. The unforgettable melodies of this classic have long found their way into public lore. "Little brothers and sisters", "Sounds of my homeland" and "Happy is he who forgets", which becomes the motto of the discombobulated story centred around Prince Orlovsky. Let yourself be carried away, when from 2 – 17 August 2019 after an emotional roller-coaster between lies and deception, accusations and numerous disguises and mix-ups, everyone agrees in the end that "the champagne alone is to blame for everything".
With its historic ambience, Kufstein Fortress provides an impressive backdrop for this world-famous musical. Together with famous soloists, an outstanding ballet and an excellent orchestra, the performances become an unforgettable experience. The mostly weatherproof roofing of the Josefsburg in front of the south wall offers a unique setting for this overwhelming sound experience.
